"Only" 30k excess deaths per month now
Just a quick post, without a lot of data nor even advice. Let me know if you’ve got follow-up or other questions, which I might be able to address in a longer or more detailed post in the future.
In pandemic-is-not-over news, US excess deaths from all causes are down to "only" 30k/month in the first 3 months of 2023. Peak year was 2021, with avg 51k/month.
A few particular months in 2020-2022 were much higher.

Obviously, not all excess deaths are necessarily from COVID, but I think it’s reasonable to guess that many of them are; and it’s a useful proxy to compare with other months during the pandemic.
My wife and I are still COVID-conscious. We wear N95 respirators 100% of the time when breathing the same air as others and we minimize the time we do that.
It's not just death or immediate illness. We expect long-term sequelae will affect many. :(
