COVID is Airborne
I’m really tired of this pandemic and taking precautions. I know you are, too.
However. Symptomatic COVID is bad. Long COVID is bad. Between Delta and Omicron, COVID is not done yet, and it’s important for everyone to keep safe.
Which means:
Get fully vaccinated and boosted.
Wear an N95 / FF2 mask indoors with people who aren’t in your bubble. (Cloth masks and surgical masks are not good enough.)
Insist on ventilation and HEPA filtration of indoor air. Sooner, rather than later.
Here’s a really good roundup thread about:
Here’s Zeynep Tufecki (a smart and thoughtful layperson, but note, not a health professional) on the net-net of Omicron as of today:
Let me know if anything above doesn’t make sense, or if you want a bunch more but less filtered links about where we’re at.
Regarding masks, I finally got tired of fogged glasses and ordered a nice envo®mask. It looks incredibly dorky. But I can breathe well with it (even when I install the plug for the exhale valve), and my glasses don’t fog up. They’re expensive for infrequent use ($79 with 5 filters, and a little more than $2 per replacement filter), but there’s a 40% off promo code right now, WINTER40. The ear loop headgear is probably fine for infrequent use. You might want the holo headgear if you need to mask regularly for hours and hours.
Keep you and your loved ones happy and well!
